Corporate Social Responsibility

ACCRALAW is fully cognizant and committed to its social obligations and responsibilities to Philippine society.  The Firm has always taken this commitment seriously even before the same had taken the form and label of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Firm renders pro bono work for indigent clients in coordination with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. The research, preparation, quality, and time devoted to pro bono work are on par and indistinguishable from fee- earning work. Our lawyers take particular pride in their pro bono work. The gratitude and release to freedom of a grateful indigent client is a priceless reward and a badge of honor for the Firm and its lawyers.

To hone the skills and develop the expertise of its lawyers, the Firm, through the ACCRALAW Foundation, Inc. and ACCRALAW Scholarship Foundation, Inc., awards generous scholarship and financial grants to pursue post-graduate legal studies in prominent universities abroad. To date, a significant number of its lawyers have pursued their Master of Laws degree from Harvard University, Columbia University, University of Michigan and Cornell University in the United States and Cambridge University and Queen Mary, University of London in the United Kingdom.

Together with the Violeta Calvo Drilon Foundation, which awards two scholarship grants annually, ACCRALAW gives ten annual scholarships to outstanding and deserving law students in the University of the Philippines College of Law. This is an endeavor that began in 2004 and continues to date.

In 1997 and in celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Firm donated the Legal Aid Room to the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. The same room was renovated by the Firm in 2013.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2002, the Firm donated a classroom to the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law.

For its 40th anniversary in 2012, the Firm, through the Children’s Hour, donated over Php3 Million for the construction of three classrooms to alleviate the shortage of classrooms in public schools and in line with the Department of Education’s “Bayanihang Pampaaralan Movement”. In the same year, the Firm started its feeding program in Tayuman, Tondo for the benefit of sick and abandoned children.

In 2013, the Firm made a cash donation to the PLDT-Smart Foundation, Inc. for the victims of Typhoon Pablo. Similarly, when Typhoon Yolanda struck the Visayas in 2013.  In the same year, the Firm also made a significant cash donation to the ING Foundation. The ING Foundation undertook to match and double said donation before turning it over to UNICEF.

Through the years, ACCRALAW has partnered with different non-profit organizations in supporting charitable endeavours.
