The ASEAN Law Association (ALA) launched the ASEAN Law Institute in Manila on April 13, 2019 (“Institute”). Avelino V. Cruz, one of the Firm’s Founding Partners, was appointed as the Institute’s Chairman.
The Institute will support ALA in fulfillment of its special mandate under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Charter as the sole ASEAN-accredited civil society organization for law. ALA was named as a partner for strengthening ASEAN legal cooperation and legal infrastructure and was recognized as the ASEAN Secretariat’s civil society adviser for law.
The Institute will undertake four objectives, namely, the creation and dissemination of ASEAN legal knowledge, the development of ASEAN capacity and cooperation on ASEAN legal matters, the creation of ASEAN consensus on ASEAN legal matters and support for ALA advocacies, and the monitoring of the implementation of certain ASEAN legal instruments.
ALA is one of the different international lawyers’ organizations participated in by our Firm’s lawyers.
