On 26 September 2023, ACCRALAW Partner Louie John D. Lood delivered a lecture on Relevant Laws on Gender Equality at an event organized by Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue entitled “Mag-Uban Ta” A Learning Forum on Gender Equality. The forum was organized by the hospital for its staff and doctors to raise awareness on gender-based sexual harassment in the workplace. The forum was held online and at the 12th Floor Auditorium of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue, with around 200 medical staff participating through Zoom and around 100 staff attending onsite.
Mr. Lood mainly discussed about the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and the Safe Spaces Act of 2019. Other speakers included DOLE Region VII Regional Director Lilia A. Estillore who talked about “Basic Concepts of Gender Equality”, and Atty. Regal Oliva, the first transwoman elected as President of the Cebu Lady Lawyers Association (CELLA), who discussed “How is Gender Discrimination Prevented”.
