ACCRALAW co-sponsored the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”) Manila Conference held last 14 May 2024 at the Shangri-la Hotel in Makati City. It was a whole day event attended by arbitration practitioners not only from the Philippines but also from other countries in the Southeast Asian region.
Senior Partner Jose Martin R. Tensuan, an experienced arbitrator and advocate, participated in the session on “Changing Trends in Infrastructure Arbitration”. He focused on the effects of Executive Order No. 1008, otherwise known as the “Construction Industry Arbitration Law”, the related jurisprudence as well as other pertinent laws, conventions and rules on international arbitration arising from infrastructure projects. He also discussed the pros and cons of abiding by the parties’ stipulated arbitral clauses. During his talk, he emphasized the efforts of the Philippine government in addressing related concerns and encouraging foreign investment in infrastructure projects.
ACCRALAW’s arbitration practice covers domestic and cross-border disputes ranging from industry specific issues, such as construction and energy, to other commercial matters. ACCRALAW has represented clients before the panels constituted under the SIAC Rules and other similar panels under other international arbitration centers.
