ACCRALAW on Rail Projects in the Philippines

Together with Herbert Smith Freehills and HKA, ACCRALAW held a half-day seminar entitled “Staying On Track: Successfully Navigating Rail Projects in the Philippines”. It was held at the Discovery Primea, Makati City last 15 May 2024.

The seminar focused on the timely and relevant issues faced by different stakeholders involved in the Philippines’ railway and subway projects.

Speakers from ACCRALAW were led by Managing Partner and Senior Partner Patricia-Ann T. Prodigalidad who participated in the session identifying common issues in rail sector disputes. The laws on procurement and land access were discussed.

Senior Partner Jose Martin R. Tensuan was a panelist on the session about common causes of rail sector disputes. Mr. Tensuan shared his experience in handling construction arbitration matters where the principal issue resolved was about defects and delay.

Senior Partner Arnold M. Corporal talked about the Philippine Construction Industry Arbitration Commission and construction arbitration in general as a mode of dispute resolution.

Partner Antonio Eduardo S. Nachura Jr. also participated and discussed the salient points in an arbitration before the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission and the impact of having Dispute Adjudication Boards.
