ACCRALAW in the 45th ASEAN Law Association Governing Council Meeting

ACCRALAW lawyers joined the Philippine delegation in hosting the 45th ASEAN Law Association (ALA) Governing Council (GC) Meeting held in Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu from 18 to 20 November 2024. The Firm’s Managing Partner and Senior Partner Patricia-Ann T. Prodigalidad, Senior Partners Rowena L. Garcia-Flores, and Jose Martin R. Tensuan, Partner Patricia L. Tysmans-Clemente, Senior Associate Christine P. Monderin, and Associates Roilan Rigil Kent A. Alonzo, Antonio Ramon L. Castillo, and Nicole Y. Chiang were among those who joined the Philippine delegation. The Firm’s lawyers from the Cebu Branch also joined, namely, Cebu Branch Head and Senior Partner Maria Iolanda B. Abella, Cebu Branch Deputy Head and Partner Eduardo V. Soleng, Jr., and Partners Louie John D. Lood, and Aylward M. Consulta. The ACCRALAW lawyers welcomed the ALA delegates to Cebu.

The ACCRALAW lawyers participated in the plenary session of the 45th GC Meeting and the various roundtable discussions on cross-border insolvency. They also took part in the reception dinner on the opening day of the conference and the ALA Gala Night, a culminating event and conference highlight.

The 45th GC Meeting was attended by representatives from the respective National Committees of the ASEAN Member States and chaired by The Right Honorable Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat of Malaysia, the incumbent ALA President.

Throughout the years, ALA has served as a platform that successfully promotes close relations, cooperation, and mutual understanding among ASEAN lawyers. The 45th ALA GC Meeting served to emphasize ASEAN’s goal to foster a rule-based community that upholds the rule of law.
