PMAP and ACCRALAW Cebu Learning Eventon Drug-Free and Mental Health Workplace Policies

On 17 October 2025, the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Cebu Chapter, in collaboration with ACCRALAW Cebu Branch, hosted a Learning Event entitled “From Legal Perspectives to Practice: The Drug and Mental Health Seminar” at Maayo Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu.

The seminar featured insightful discussions on critical workplace issues. ACCRALAW Senior Associate Shiela Vae Hoylar-Gascon delivered a presentation on “Drug Abuse – Work Termination or User Rehabilitation?”, exploring the legal and practical implications of substance abuse in employment. ACCRALAW Partner Louie John D. Lood followed with a talk on “Mental Health: Obligations of Employers and Employees in the Workplace”, highlighting the shared responsibilities in fostering a mentally healthy work environment.

An engaging open forum concluded the event, allowing participants to raise questions and share perspectives with the speakers.

The face-to-face session drew over one hundred (100) attendees, comprising human resource managers, supervisors, and practitioners, reflecting the strong interest and commitment of Cebu’s HR community to promoting drug-free and mentally healthy workplaces.
