On 4 September 2026, ACCRALAW Davao Branch held its Legal Forum for clients at the SEDA Abreeza Hotel in Davao City. This year’s Forum also marked the 30th anniversary since the opening of ACCRALAW Davao Branch, affirming the Firm’s long-established reputation of providing excellent legal service to its clients in the Philippines, including Mindanao.
In attendance at the Forum were a mix of its old and new clients from different sectors representing educational institutions, business process outsourcing, construction, real estate, hospitality/tourism service, agricultural suppliers, producers and buyers, among others. Also in attendance were ACCRALAW Davao Branch’s partner organizations from the public and private sector for the Firm’s Unified Legal Aid Service.
Ms. Jessa G. Wong-Cantano, Resident Partner and Branch Monitor, opened the Forum with a presentation of ACCRALAW’s history, services, recognitions and awards, and practice areas. She also introduced the legal and the non-legal staff of the Davao Branch.
The Forum highlighted significant developments touching on regulation of employees’ social media use, updates on the conduct of tax assessments, and management prerogative in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace.
Mr. Khurshid C. Kalabud, Jr. discussed the “Legal Framework for Regulating Employees’ Social Media Use” to balance employers’ right to preserve their legitimate business interests and their employees’ right to privacy and freedom of expression. Mr. Robien Christopher P. Cerbo spoke on “BIR Love Letters: Navigating Tax Assessments Amid Recent Regulatory and Administrative Reforms” to remind businesses of their due process rights in the conduct of tax assessments and inform them of the safeguards enacted by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to eliminate oppressive practices. Mr. Omegs Gryeane T. Solis lectured on “Management Prerogative as Counterweight to Security of Tenure”, specifically on the trend towards using AI technology and automation in the workplace. Attendees also took the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications from the speakers.
To conclude the event, Resident Partner and the Davao Branch Head, Ms. Myra S. Montecalvo-Quilatan, delivered her closing remarks and expressed on behalf of ACCRALAW Davao Branch its gratitude to its clients, friends, and partners for their continued trust in the Firm for the past thirty years.
