On 25 November 2023, ACCRALAW Partner Eric R. Recalde participated in the technical sessions of the 78th Annual National Convention of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“PICPA”) held in Sorsogon City.
Mr. Recalde discussed the impact of artificial intelligence (“AI”) on Integrity, Objectivity, Professional Competence, Confidentiality, and Professional Behavior – the 5 Fundamental Principles embodied in the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants in the Philippines. He discussed the relevant developments in AI used by Certified Public Accountants (“CPA”), demonstrated AI’s capabilities in tax research. He also highlighted AI’s current pitfalls and proposed measures to mitigate the inherent risk in its use. Mr. Recalde likewise tackled common data privacy and professional decorum concerns that are rampant in the digital landscape.
