ACCRALAW Associate Khen C. Aquino participated as a speaker at the event entitled “The Practice”. It was held last 19 December 2023 and organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu Chapter in collaboration with the Militis Lex Fraternity and Honor Society. It was attended by law students and young lawyers, most of whom recently passed the 2023 Bar Examination.
Mr. Aquino talked about his almost two-year experience working in a law firm and handling litigation matters. He talked about the thrill and excitement of litigating cases as well as the pressure of mastering the facts and applying the provisions of law to advance a client’s cause. He also shared his view that while honing one’s oral advocacy skills is important, he observed that well-written and well-researched pleadings are more crucial in winning cases.
As a young lawyer, he also shared that the guidance and mentorship from experienced and veteran lawyers, He recounted that this was a key factor in choosing to work at ACCRALAW.
“The Practice” is an annual program of the Militis Lex Fraternity and Honor Society designed to provide practical tips to new and aspiring lawyers. To expand its reach, the said organization collaborated with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu Chapter in organizing the said event.
Mr. Aquino is an Associate of ACCRALAW’s Cebu Branch. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of San Carlos in 2020 and graduated among the top ten students of his class. He has handled different litigation matters, including the defense of foreign executives of an airport concessionaire for charges involving the violation of Section 2-A of Commonwealth Act No. 108 or the Anti-Dummy Law and Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and represented an international BPO company in pursuing a criminal action for cyberlibel and computer-related offenses.
