ACCRALAW Authors Technology, Media and Telecommunications Legal Updates in Asia Business Law Journal

ACCRALAW Senior Partner Leland R. Villadolid, Jr., Partner Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista, and Senior Associate Enrique F. Nitura authored the Philippine chapter on legal updates in the field of Technology, Media and Telecommunications for the Asia Business Law Journal.

The Philippine chapter was entitled Extending the net: Boosting internet access in Philippines. This chapter discussed recent changes in the rapidly developing technology, media and telecommunications (“TMT”) sector. Among these developments is the enactment of Republic Act No. 11659, which amended Commonwealth Act No. 146, also known as the Public Service Act. Under this amendment, internet service providers are no longer limited to corporations which are 60% Filipino-owned and -controlled. There was also a discussion on the laws and regulations promoting the adoption of satellite internet, telco-neutral data centers, and a common tower policy.

Published by Law.asia, ABLJ is a magazine that provides for “legal and regulatory environment in key Asian jurisdictions”. It “identifies the most capable legal advisers across Asia” for Asia-focused in-house counsels and lawyers in private practice.
