Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista Lectures on Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure

ACCRALAW Partner Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista conducted the training module on Criminal Law and Procedures in Criminal Prosecution and Litigation for the participants of the University of the Philippines (“UP”) Law Center’s Paralegal Training Program. The training module combined a pre-recorded lecture that was accessed by the participants prior to the in-person lecture held on 12 April 2025 at the Malcolm Theater of the UP College of Law. More than 180 participants attended the training session.

Ms. Bautista discussed general principles of criminal law and discussed the elements of common crimes. This was followed by an overview of the rules on criminal procedure, including the recent issuances by the Department of Justice on preliminary investigation. She also discussed searches and seizures and arrests.

The lecture was followed by a lively open forum where participants asked about reported cases or examples from current events.

Ms. Bautista’s law practice broadly covers litigation and dispute resolution, corporate and commercial transactions, including handling M&A deals. She is also a Professorial Lecturer at the UP College of Law where she regularly teaches Criminal Procedure and Special Proceedings.
