Asian-Mena Counsel – Philippines Jurisdiction Updates 2018-2019

Throughout 2018, the Firm’s lawyers contributed to Asia-Mena Counsel’s initiatives to updates its members on the evolving laws in different jurisdictions.  These articles covered significant changes in the fields of criminal litigation, administrative law and tax.  Jessa G. Wong-Cantano wrote on the revised guidelines for continuous trial in criminal cases; Noel Christian O. Luciano gave a briefer on the Ease of Doing Business Act; and Eric R. Recalde gave his insights on the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act.

Other issues were covered that ranged from competition laws, crowdfunding and issuance of green bonds. Mara Kristina O. Recto wrote on the Philippine Competition Commission’s Joint Venture Guidelines; Leia Clarissa Veronica R. Veracruz wrote an article on the proposed rules and regulations on crowdfunding; and Philip James C. Tidoso wrote on the Securities Exchange Commission’s Guidelines on the Issuance of Green Bonds under the ASEAN Green Bonds Standards in the Philippines.

Pressing topics were also covered such as illegal contracting issues as discussed by Neptali B. Salvanera and the passage of the Mental Health Act as discussed by Martin Luigi G Samson.
