The Firm recently conducted its annual business law forum for its clients and friends. As described by Managing Partner Emerico O. De Guzman, “This forum is a regular initiative of ACCRALAW to tackle relevant legal issues and provide significant legal developments affecting business and industry”. It was held last 4 October 2019 at the Manila Polo Club. Among the luminaries in attendance were Senator Franklin M. Drilon and former Bangko Sentral Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr.
Teresita J. Herbosa, Of Counsel, discussed the “The Revised Corporation Code”. Prior to rejoining ACCRALAW in 2019, Ms. Herbosa served as the Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission from April 2011 to June 2018 where she implemented significant projects and reforms, one of which was the revision of the Corporation Code. All her proposed amendments have passed the legislative process and were included in the Revised Corporation Code.
Eric R. Recalde, Partner and Head of the Firm’s Tax Department, talked about “Corporations in the Realm of Philippine Competition”. Mr. Recalde is one of the country’s tax experts and author of several books on Taxation. Mr. Recalde is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He ranked 11th in the 1996 CPA Licensure Examination, and 3rd in the 2012 Philippine Bar Examination.
