ACCRALAW participated in the Bayan E-Talakay at ITAnong workshop of the Social Economy Action Research Foundation (“SEARCH”) in partnership with Bayan Academy, Bayan Innovation Group (“BIG”), and META held on 18 November 2022.
It was the second of three online workshops organized to help raise awareness on the rights and responsibilities of online entrepreneurs, particularly on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (“MSMEs”).
Senior Associate Charlemagne Rae P. Chavez and Associate Gino Ismael S. Gerodias shared their insights as resource persons and subject matter experts on the proposed Internet Transactions Act (“ITA”). They discussed concerns from various stakeholders, such as prospective or budding online sellers to established merchants, advocacy groups, and cooperatives. They also discussed the possible impact of the proposed law on online merchants and e-retailers.
The ITA seeks to promote the growth of e-commerce in the Philippines by building mutual trust between online sellers and consumers, and has been identified as a priority bill under the current administration.
