ACCRALAW acted as legal counsel to Bank of the Philippine Islands (“BPI”), one of the country’s largest banks, in connection with its merger with Robinsons Bank Corporation (“RBank”), with BPI as the surviving bank. Pursuant to the merger, BPI absorbed RBank in exchange for shares issued to the shareholders of RBank, including Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. and JG Summit Capital Services Corp. The merger took effect on 1 January 2024 after receiving all regulatory approvals from the Philippine Competition Commission, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
