ACCRALAW Senior Associate Justine A. Navarro was featured in Asia Business Law Journal (“ABLJ”) for authoring “Reviewing a decade of Philippine competition law”.
In the article, Ms. Navarro outlined the challenges faced by the country’s anti-trust commission in enforcing the Philippine Competition Act ten (10) after its passage. She discussed the need for unified guidelines to streamline efficiencies and facilitate mandatory notifications/requests, and for capacity building to keep up with the challenges brought by modern technology. She also examined the practical problem with cross-border enforcement despite adequate legal provisions allowing for the acquisition of jurisdiction over foreign entities in case of offshore transactions with Philippine nexus.
Ms. Navarro is from the Firm’s Corporate and Special Project Department. She specializes in corporate work, regulatory, and advisory work. She has acted as counsel for both buyers and sellers in various local and cross-border M&A and joint venture deals in different industries and advised local and foreign clients on doing business issues and competition/antitrust regulations in the Philippines.
