Mr. Fider has assisted foreign and local clients in the pharmaceuticals, broadcasting, motorcycles, engine lubricants, food manufacturing, sportswear, cosmetics and music industries in the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property (IP) rights in the Philippines. He has advised international organizations including the EC-ASEAN Intellectual Property Cooperation Program (ECAP II), the Japan Export Trade Organization and the International Rice Research Institute on matters involving IP rights in the Philippines.

His scholarly works include the Philippine Chapters of several authoritative textbooks which were published by Kluwer Law International (London) as part of the Max Planck Series on Asian Intellectual Property Law. These include:

  • “Intellectual Property Law in Asia”;
  • “The Protection of Well-Known Marks in Asia”;
  • “Parallel Imports in Asia”;
  • “Copyright Law and the Information Society in Asia”; and,
  • “Enforcement of Patents.”

Mr. Fider also co-authored the textbook entitled “Annotated Leading Patent Cases in Major Asian Jurisdictions”, a book project of the Applied Research Center for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA) of the Singapore Management University and published by the City University of Hong Kong Press in 2017.

He teaches courses on Intellectual Property Law in the University of the Philippines and the De La Salle University.

In 2018, Mr. Fider was recognized as one of the Leading Lawyers in the practice area of Intellectual Property by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and the Asia Law Profiles. He is also constantly being cited in prestigious publications including Chambers and Partners, Managing IP, and Asia IP as a leading Philippine IP lawyer.

Mr. Fider was recognized by Asialaw Profiles as an Elite Practitioner in the practice area of intellectual property in 2019.

Mr. Fider has been ranked as a Leading Lawyer and also recommended for the practice area of Intellectual Property by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for 2020 and 2021.

Mr. Fider was recognized by the Asia Business Law Journal as among the Philippines’ Top 100 Lawyers in 2021

He previously served as President of the Licensing Executive Society of the Philippines and the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

He holds key positions in several institutions such as the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) Academy, the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines, the British Alumni Association, and the Chevening Alumni Foundation of the Philippines, Inc.

Mr. Fider was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1987 and is a member of the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the Advisory Committee of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, and the International Trademark Association.
