On 31 July 2024, ACCRALAW volunteer lawyers participated in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Makati City Chapter’s (“IBP Makati”) Legal Aid Clinic. It was held at the Makati City Hall.

ACCRALAW Partner John Paul M. Gaba’s article on data privacy was featured in Asia Business Law Journal.

ACCRALAW’s Senior Legal Counsel Victor P. Lazatin was named among Asia Super 50 Dispute Lawyers by Asian Legal Business (“ALB”) in its July 2204 Issue. In Asia Super 50 Dispute Lawyers, ALB “spotlights the region’s top disputes lawyers, recognized for their outstanding client service” and “rigorously selected based on client recommendations directly submitted to ALB”.

In a Resolution dated 15 May 2024, the Supreme Court affirmed the decision of the Court of Tax Appeals (“CTA”) to refund Php 17 million to Y&R Philippines, Inc. (“Y&R”).

On 10 July 2024, ACCRALAW’s Cebu Branch conducted its annual legal forum at Cebu City Sports Club with the theme, “Accelerating Innovation in Law and Business”. It was attended by more than 100 participants from leading local and multinational companies in Cebu and in the Visayas region, as well as law students from the University of San Carlos.

ACCRALAW acted as defense counsel for Nobel Laureate Maria A. Ressa and Rappler Holdings Corporation (“RHC”) in a criminal case for tax evasion filed with the Regional Trial Court of Pasig City (“RTC Pasig”). To recall, after trial, Ms. Ressa and RHC were acquitted in a Decision dated 12 September 2023.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines Journal and the Philippine Bar Association (“PBA”) organized a legal forum entitled “AI and the Law”. It was a forum open to all law practitioners and students interested to learn the basics of artificial intelligence and its impact on Philippine laws. More than 100 lawyers attended and earned Mandatory

Together with Herbert Smith Freehills and HKA, ACCRALAW held a half-day seminar entitled “Staying On Track: Successfully Navigating Rail Projects in the Philippines”. It was held at the Discovery Primea, Makati City last 15 May 2024.

The Intellectual Property Office, in partnership with the De La Salle University Intellectual Property Office, invited ACCRALAW to its 3rd Intellectual Property (IP) Career Expo held last 17 July 2024.
