Among the data privacy and protection lawyers in the Firm is John Paul M. Gaba. He is a Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Department. He joined the recently concluded “Power in Protection”: Data Privacy & Cyber Security Summit 2019 of the PLDT Group. It was held last 27 September 2019 at the Marriott Manila Hotel. Around 300 leaders and movers of the PLDT Group participated in the Summit.
Mr. Gaba served as one of the Panelists during the Summit’s session on Data Breach and Security Incidents. He shared with the participants his experience handling various data privacy-related complaints, and security incidents and breach cases. He also emphasized how each person in an organization is vital in ensuring full compliance with the data breach and security incident management and reporting/notification obligations of the company. Mr. Gaba has been actively assisting the PLDT Group in complying with the Philippine Data Privacy Act (“DPA”) and its implementing regulations, including advising them on complex data privacy issues and representing them before the NPC.
Mr. Gaba specializes in intellectual property, information technology and cyberspace/internet law, and data privacy/data protection law. He actively assists clients on DPA compliance and handles both contentious and non-contentious data privacy matters and cases.
