Mr. Sabilala specializes in general corporate work, mergers and acquisitions, securities and capital markets, banking and finance, foreign investments, construction, and financial technology.
He has handled significant transactions where he:
- assisted in the sale/acquisition of renewable energy, financing, agricultural plantation, technology business process outsourcing, and manufacturing companies;
- assisted private equity firms in investments in insurance. retail business, educational institution, and e-commerce business;
- assisted a foreign developer with its joint venture transaction with leading real estate developers in the Philippines;
- assisted international hotel chains in their management agreements with local hotel operators;
- acted as counsel for issuers in connection with the public offerings/private placement transaction of common shares, preferred shares, stock rights, and stock warrants. Specifically, acted as counsel in the initial public offering of the first real estate investment trust in the Philippines, and the follow-on offering of the first dollar-denominated securities in The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc.;
- acted as counsel for underwriters in connection with public offerings of equity instruments and retail bonds of construction, real estate developers, mining, and manufacturing companies;
- assisted renewable energy and manufacturing companies in project financing transactions and loan and security agreements;
- assisted a leading consumer goods company in drafting and reviewing the construction contracts using the FIDIC suites for the construction of its manufacturing building;
- assisted foreign investors in establishing subsidiaries and branches in the Philippines, and its registrations with various government agencies.
Mr. Sabilala co-authored the Philippines chapter of:
- ICLG – Construction & Engineering Laws and Regulations 2024-2025 published by Global Legal Group; and
- Fintech Laws and Regulations 2024 published by Global Legal Insights.
He has also authored an article entitled “DDS (Dollar Denominated Securities) in relation to Corporation Code’s capital provisions” which was published by Asia Business Law Journal in 2017.
Mr. Sabilala was recognized as a “Leading Associate” for capital markets practice for 2025 by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific for his “regular involvement in their team’s key work, and recognition from peers or clients as being ones to watch”.
Mr. Sabilala graduated among the top ten students of his graduating class. He is a licensed Certified Public Account who used to work as an auditor in one of the Big Four accounting firms. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2016 and is a member of the Albay Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
