The Laws on Credit, Secured Transactions and Insolvency

Eric R. Recalde, Partner and Head of the Firm’s Tax Department, launched his latest book entitled “The Laws on Credit, Secured Transactions and Insolvency”. He co-authored this book with his wife, Marie Tanya Z. Recalde. The virtual book launch was coupled with a webinar on the salient topics of their book. It was held online last 14 November 2020.

Their book tackles the laws and developments in these fragmented subjects. It provides an overview of Credit and its Sources, gradually builds up discussions on Secured Transactions, which feature the rules under the Personal Property Security Act, and ultimately focuses on Insolvency, as provided in the Financial Rehabilitation and Insolvency Act.

Eric R. Recalde is an academic. He has authored other books on the laws on taxation, corporations and competition. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Laws, and Master of Laws degrees from San Beda University, and his Master of Corporate Law degree from the University of Cambridge in United Kingdom.

Marie Tanya Z. Recalde obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines and her Master of Laws degree from the University of Cambridge as a Chevening scholar. She was also a Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow on Finance and Banking. She is currently a Bank Officer V of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, where she formulates and advises on regulatory policy recommendations involving complex legal and regulatory issues concerning central bank-supervised financial institutions.
