On 23 June 2020, ACCRALAW Senior Associate Karen Andrea D. Torres gave a talk on the VAT System under the TRAIN Law, specifically on the Enhanced VAT Refund System at The Second Tax Specialists’ Conference organized by Indu Inferentia Management Consultancy and IAM Training Services.

Following a rigorous selection process, Benchmark Litigation recognized ACCRALAW Senior Partner Patricia-Ann T. The Community Quarantine imposed by the Philippine government to stem the transmission of COVID-19 has resulted in economic pressures that precipitated the rising need of Filipino parties in international arbitration to obtain interim measures or emergency relief aimed at, among others, maintaining the status quo and preserving assets or evidence. Recognizing the importance of understanding issues, strategies and considerations in seeking interim or emergency relief, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) organized a webinar entitled “COVID-19 Special: Strategies for Seeking Interim Measures in International Arbitration”, which was held last 18 June 2020.

ACCRALAW contributed the chapter on the Philippines in the recent Comparative Guide on Litigation of The Legal 500.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Southern Luzon Region (SLR) organized a webinar entitled “The Legal Profession in the midst of COVID-19” held last 21 May 2020. Over 350 participants attended.

Among the panelists was ACCRALAW’s Arnold M. Corporal, a Partner of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. Mr. Corporal is also the President of the IBP Makati Chapter.

Coventus Leadership is a digital platform that caters to business leaders and lawyers. On 7 May 2020, Coventus Leadership published an article entitled “End to Philippine Lockdown clears path to economic reforms” which was written by Andrew Kemp.

In the 2020 edition of Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific, ACCRALAW was described as a “market leader with capability in handling a vast range of complex and high-value disputes.” It also added that “[t]he Firm has a strong track record acting on high-profile commercial litigation employment and regulatory disputes as well as international arbitration”.

ACCRALAW Partner George S.D. Aquino conducted an online lecture to discuss the amendments to the Rules on Evidence on 30 April 2020, in view of the recently issued A.M. No. 19-08-15-SC, or the 2019 Revised Rules on Evidence. The webinar was hosted by the Makati City Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in partnership with Quisumbing Torres.
