On 5 August 2023, ACCRALAW Partner Louie John D. Lood delivered a lecture entitled “The Ties that Bind Labor and Employment” during the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Seminar organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City Chapter and the University of San Carlos School of Law. The seminar was held at City Sports Club, Cebu City.

ACCRALAW acted as Philippine counsel to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”), a multinational banking financial services institution, in its investment in Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (“RCBC”).

ACCRALAW acted as Philippine counsel to UBS AG, Singapore Branch (“UBS AG”) in connection with the sale by Megaworld Corporation of 279,400,000 common shares in its real estate investment trust, MREIT, Inc. (“MREIT”). UBS AG served as sole placement agent for the transaction.

ACCRALAW actively participates in the different activities of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (“IBP”) Makati City Chapter, including its institutionalized free legal aid to indigent residents of Makati City.

On 28 July 2023, ACCRALAW Partner and Head of the Tax Department Eric R. Recalde, Senior Associate Fatima Faye E. Cordova, and Associates Kevin John B. Lumbre and Kaye Geozen T. ACCRALAW’s Cebu Branch held its annual legal forum last 5 July 2023 at the Cebu City Sports Club, Cebu Business Park. It was attended by 135 participants from the leading local and multinational companies in Cebu and the region.

On 5 July 2023, the Philippines’ first gender notes were issued. ASA Philippines Foundation, Inc. (“ASA Philippines”) issued Php5 Billion worth of corporate notes under the Social Bond Principles 2021 of the International Capital Markets Association and in compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Guidelines on the Issuance of Social Bonds under the ASEAN Social Bonds Standards in the Philippines.
